Research into Architectural building materials
For my building project the materials I would be using are:
Granite, White Limestone, White Marble, Brass and Glass.
For the exterior of the building I would use:
White Limestone, Granite, Brass and Glass.
For its interior, I would use:
White, black and grey Marble for the floors and Stairs, and White Limestone for the walls and all other details
Here are some examples of buildings which make use of these materials and information on them:
Limestone - Is a sedimentary rock made mostly of minerals calcite and aragonite. Limestone can either categorized as 'soft' or 'hard', and as a building material, it is both abundant and versatile and has been used globally.
White Marble - A metamorphic rock predominantly composed of calcite or dolomite crystals. It has been used and highly sought out as a building material for centuries and is suitable for many appliances.
Brass - this is a copper allow; a combination of brass and zinc. It is categorized under metals known as 'red metals'.
Glass - A material made from liquid sand and can be used with cast iron, steel, aluminium or stone.
Building material plan:
Granite - At the base of the museum, this would be used for the four columns at each side of the building which are at the east and west sections.
It will also be used for the exterior walls of the east and west sections of the first floor, and the windows of the second floor but only on the east and west section.
Brass - This would be used for detailing on the building. At its railing on the second floor terrace, the roof, the details in the capital of every column and the doors.
White Limestone - This would be used through out the building mainly, paired with granite for their aesthetic value and because both stones would create a beautiful contrast.
This would be used for the columns at the base middle section on the building, the walls, and the door frame design. For the east and west section of the ground floor, the walls would also be limestone.
The windows on the first floor would be limestone, the middle section windows and walls also limestone, and walls of the east and west sections also.
Marble - Polished marble and limestone are used for the buildings interior.
Glass - This is used for the roof to bring natural light into the museum and also on the windows.

Why these particular materials? Where would you use them and then say why you would use them there? Your research needs context (linking) to your design as well as further commentary.
